Santander Sugar Group Ltd. Achieves Conditional VIVE Claim Level

Santander Sugar Group Ltd., based in Belize, has been awarded Conditional VIVE Claim Level status following an independent assessment of its farms and facilities. This recognition marks a significant step in the company’s sustainability journey, reflecting its commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with international standards.

The sugar industry faces complex sustainability challenges—from responsible resource management to environmental protection and improved working conditions. Santander Sugar Group Ltd., with a firm commitment to excellence, is actively addressing these issues through its participation in the VIVE Sustainable Supply Programme.

The VIVE Programme is a global initiative developed by Czarnikow in partnership with Intellync, a data-driven agricultural supply chain company and division of AB Agri Ltd. VIVE provides a structured framework for agricultural producers to improve sustainability performance across environmental, social, and commercial criteria. All assessments are conducted independently by Intellync, ensuring transparency, impartiality, and technical rigour.

Santander joined the VIVE Programme in 2023 and has shown consistent engagement throughout the process. The recent assessment identified areas for improvement, which the company is actively addressing through standard remediation protocols.

Santander is also working with the VIVE Climate Action team to assess its carbon footprint using internationally recognised methodologies—supporting its broader sustainability goals.

The Conditional Claim Level reflects Santander Sugar Group Ltd.’s proactive approach to sustainability. Its next assessment is scheduled for March 2026.

Ben French, Associate Director and VIVE Strategic Lead at Czarnikow, commented:
"Santander’s achievement reflects both progress and potential. It offers buyers a timely opportunity to engage with a supplier committed to measurable impact and continuous improvement."

Stefania Lopez de Rodriguez, Systems Management Manager at Santander Sugar Group Ltd., added:
"We are proud to have reached this milestone with VIVE. It reflects the dedication of our team and our commitment to building a more sustainable future for sugar production in Belize. We look forward to continuing this journey in partnership with our stakeholders and the VIVE Programme."
